Identification of High Capability Students – 7 Characteristics
Students with high abilities, are characterized by being different from other children, have a different character and develop skills that do not match their age.
These students are known as “Super Gifted” children. Academically its main characteristic is that they present a Precocious Intellect. For the OMS the Gifted students are those that present an intelligence coefficient (IQ) higher than 130. The other students on average have an IQ equal to or less than 100.

Identification of High Capability Students
1.It’s too Curious.
It is a student who questions everything, asks questions that other children do not understand, these questions can often seem to make no sense, for example Master because the sum has to go before multiplication? What happens if I do this instead of this other? Why does not this teach, because it does not teach us the other? Children with high abilities want to know everything, and if they do not get a concrete and coherent answer they can feel frustrated.
2.It is extremely sensitive.
This student has a high sensitivity, this applies to all times and issues, tend to exaggerate problems and happiness. For example. If this student at break time drops part of his sandwich, he can make a real fuss, and he says phrases like “I’m going to run out of food all day” “I’m going to be very hungry all day” ” God will not forgive me for having thrown away the food. “
3.Develop literacy activities in a very fast way.
It is surprising the ability to solve problems, read a text and understand it perfectly, this student captures the ideas in an impressive way. While other children have to read again and again and again, just one is enough.
4.It is extremely strict with yourself.
He is a perfectionist by nature, he wants everything he does to respond to a reason, he does not forgive mistakes and if he commits mistakes he can get frustrated in a big way. It concentrates on only one thing, and it does it very well; if someone interrupts it, it can end up with many albortos.
5. Question the rules established in class.
He does not want to be in the need to fulfill something that for him does not make sense, if he does not agree he will let you know, and you have to have a coherent answer, otherwise he will be rebellious.
6. It has an impressive creative capacity.
His imagination flies very high, more than that of other children, has amazing ideas, and always proposes new things, has a different vision to all other children, usually is the one that always find the solution to those difficult problems. And although many times your reasoning may be unreal, you should not tell them, consider that they are very sensitive, and if you reject us you can fall into a great depression.
7. Your vocabulary is made up of words inappropriate to your age.
